All Genders Welcome Here: Increasing transgender-specific knowledge and skills for victim service providers

Please join us for a full day workshop led by michael munson, the co-founder and Executive Director of FORGE, an organization focused on improving the lives of transgender individuals. This fast-paced full day training will stimulate attendees to expand their conceptual framework(s) about transgender survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence. Trans-specific research will highlight prevalence data, barriers to accessing services, as well as some of the unique challenges transgender survivors face. Data will also guide discussion on how providers and systems can lower barriers and integrate effective strategies to better serve transgender survivors and loved ones. A review of trans-inclusive federal legislation and advancements will provide information on both federal mandates to provide services, and, more importantly, connect the dots for attendees on how these federal advancements can improve the safety and health of the transgender survivors they work with. Deep discussion through dynamic exercises will explore the challenges and rewards of shifting traditionally or formerly sex-segregated services and how to best integrate and provide equal, respectful services for transgender survivors and loved ones. Attendees will leave feeling empowered, with clear and direct practical steps on how to increase their agency's accessiblity, cultural competency, and welcome to transgender survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence.  You can attend in person or via LiveStream!
