BWJP Spring Reception

MAY 6 SPECIAL EVENT

National Centers of Excellence

Each Center is a specialized legal resource providing technical assistance, policy analysis, and training within a specific jurisdictional or topical area of gender-based law violence.

Special Initiatives are the integrative framework of our work. MOSAIC and The Learning Community (TLC) serve as cross-cutting infrastructure that connects our specialized centers to ensure a unified approach to justice.

CENTER ON GLOBAL RIGHTS FOR WOMEN
We facilitate global partnerships to transform unfair laws and systems so women and girls can live free from violence.
NATIONAL CENTER ON SYSTEMS CHANGE AND ADVOCACY
We serve as a practice-based center supporting advocates and systems professionals in creating solutions that return agency to individuals and communities.
NATIONAL LEGAL CENTER ON CHILDREN AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
We provide judges with evidence based judicial frameworks to accurately assess ‘the best interests of the child’ in cases involving complex domestic abuse.
Defense Center for Criminalized Survivors
We provide the specialized legal frameworks and expert consultation necessary to defend survivors who are unfairly prosecuted for acts related to their own victimization.
NATIONAL RESTRAINING ORDER CENTER
We safeguard the 'Full Faith and Credit' clause by training jurisdictions to recognize and enforce protection orders across all state and tribal lines.
NATIONAL CENTER ON LEGAL APPROACHES TO PREVENT FAMILY VIOLENCE
We provide judges, law enforcement officers, probation and parole officers, attorneys and policy makers with the expertise to transform systemic responses into survivor safety.
NATIONAL CENTER ON GUN VIOLENCE IN RELATIONSHIPS
We provide the primary technical assistance to state and tribal courts to implement federal firearms prohibitions in domestic violence cases.
MOSAIC
We lead the redesign of systems by partnering with culturally specific organizations to ensure justice is equitable and accessible for marginalized communities.
THE LEARNING COMMUNITY
As the field’s national ‘think tank,’ we co-create the next generation of justice policy through briefs, digital resources, and professional training hubs.
