Newest Minnesota Supreme Court justice: Anne McKeig

Dayton will appoint District Judge Anne McKeig to fill the Supreme Court vacancy caused by Justice Christopher Dietzen’s upcoming retirement.

McKeig was appointed to the court by Pawlenty in 2008 after more than 15 years as a Hennepin County prosecutor. She worked for the Child Protection Division and was a specialist in Indian Child Welfare Act cases.

Her appointment furthers Dayton’s drive to diversify the Minnesota bench. She is native American and with her appointment, the high court will have the first female majority for decades.
