This webinar will expose participants to the research and statistics establishing the widespread, entrenched crisis of violence against Native women. Participants will recognize the drawbacks of relying on federal data to describe the experiences of Native women. After establishing the state of contemporary Native women’s experiences, the webinar will turn to the issue of historical inequities which underlie the crisis, and end with a focus on how federal Indian law has facilitated and encouraged the rape of Native women.
