BWJP 2025 Goals: Supporting Survivors and Changing Systems

By BWJP Staff

As we start 2025, many people set goals to improve their lives. These goals might include saving money, getting healthier, or fixing things they struggled with before. While personal goals help us grow and may change throughout the years, BWJP stays focused on our mission to promote change within the civil and criminal legal systems to enhance their effectiveness in providing safety, security, and justice for survivors of gender-based violence, their families, and their communities.

As we navigate an ever-changing landscape, our overarching goal remains steadfast: to enhance safety, security, and justice for survivors while addressing the systemic inequities that perpetuate harm. This work is not easy, but it is essential. Survivors cannot wait for the perfect cultural climate or unlimited resources. They need action now, and BWJP is committed to delivering it.

Our goals for this year show our dedication to making systems better and supporting people affected by gender-based violence.

Goal 1: Continue to Listen to Survivors and Let Their Voices Guide Us

Survivors are at the heart of everything we do. Their experiences help shape our work. We ensure survivors' voices are heard through programs like survivor listening sessions and our technical assistance hotline. By focusing on their needs, we can create solutions that genuinely help them.

Goal 2: Continue to Offer the Best Training on The Learning Community

BWJP partners with four leading gender-based violence organizations to form The Learning Community.  The Learning Community helps professionals learn how to better support survivors. We work with other top organizations to provide high-quality training on critical topics.

This year, we’ll continue to grow our training options. Some of our current courses include:

We aim to give professionals the knowledge and tools they need to make a real difference.

Goal 3: Continue Investing in Our Strong, Diverse Team

Our team is made up of talented individuals from over 17 states, bringing various perspectives and experiences to our work. This diversity is one of our greatest strengths. In 2025, we are committed to supporting the professional growth of our staff through training and development opportunities and continuing to foster a collaborative workplace that values innovation and teamwork. By continuing to invest in our incredible team, we ensure we are ready to tackle the complex challenges of gender-based violence.

Our Ongoing Mission

Our goals may change a little each year, but our mission stays the same: survivors come first. Their strength and courage inspire us to keep working hard. In 2025, BWJP will continue to lead with purpose and passion, ensuring survivors’ voices and their needs are heard.

We are excited about the year ahead and invite you to join us in reaching these goals. Together, we can make a real and lasting impact.
