BIG NEWS! BWJP is Expanding Globally!

A Powerful New Chapter: Global Rights for Women Joins Forces with the Battered Women’s Justice Project

We are thrilled to share exciting news with you: Global Rights for Women (GRW) has merged with the Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP) to form a new BWJP Center, the Center on Global Rights for Women.

This merger brings together two organizations deeply committed to ending gender-based violence and it makes both of us stronger. Together, we can expand our impact, support more survivors, and make lasting legal and systemic change both here in the U.S. and around the world.

Why This Merger Matters
BWJP is a national leader with the strength and vision to shape the next chapter in ending gender-based violence. As the leading legal resource in the United States, BWJP is well-positioned to support the vital work of Global Rights for Women, which has been leading international efforts to promote justice for women and girls since 2014. With your support, together we will achieve even more to:

  • Respond to the real needs of survivors both nationally and globally.
  • Build on shared values and survivor-centered strategies.
  • Gain efficiency and impact by combining resources and expertise.
  • Support advocates, legal professionals, and grassroots organizations in more communities than ever before.

This marks a new, strong chapter that will allow us to continue and grow the work you have supported for a long time. The merger combines the strengths of two organizations committed to ending gender-based violence.

Cheryl Thomas will continue her leadership in global policy and advocacy as part of the new Center. Amy Sánchez, BWJP’s CEO, will lead the combined organization with a proven track record in strategic growth, systems change, and racial equity.

Together we extend our gratitude to SeaChange-Lodestar Fund for Nonprofit Collaboration, Carlson and the Carlson Family Foundation for their support of this crucial merger. Your continued support is critical. The need is great, and this new Center is ready to meet it. With your help, we can expand this work to reach even more survivors, influence policy in more countries, and push systems toward justice and safety.

We are so grateful for your generosity, and we invite you to be part of this powerful new chapter. Please support BWJP’s new Center on Global Rights for Women. Together, we are stronger. Together, we can do more.
