Meet Patricia
Q: What brought you into the field of gender-based violence?
As a young person, my personal and professional dream was to become a writer. As part of that journey, I have been deeply invested in communicating the lived experience of women and girls, especially concerning gender-based violence. Two of the literary books I’ve written were focused on child sexual abuse and rape recovery. Also, doing communications for Global Rights for Women I learned how countries and community agencies committed to working together can profoundly change realities for survivors. Writing about these things fuels my passion and gives me hope.
Q: What drew you to BWJP?
BWJP is a national leader and so highly respected, and now I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this excellent team.
Q: What are you most looking forward to working at BWJP?
I have been given a role to use my storytelling skills to continue to enhance BWJP’s messaging to donors and other stakeholders about the survivor-centered impact of BWJP’s work. I am grateful to be doing this work in service to the organization’s mission with such talented and dedicated people.
Q: How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I have artsy-type interests, but more than anything, I really love to cook and host. I find it grounds me and is an act of self-care in a full life of writing, travel, caregiving, keeping backyard chickens, gardening, home remodeling and more.
