About Us:
The Battered Women's Justice Project (BWJP) is a national legal resource & center on civil and criminal justice system responses to gender-based violence (GBV). BWJP provides expert training, policy analyses, and consultation to various constituencies including advocates, GBV programs and coalitions, communities, national leaders, and elected officials. With a new Executive Director at the helm, BWJP is entering an exciting phase in its work. Building on existing relationships and past accomplishments, BWJP will continue to broker meaningful community engagement to ensure systems accountability. Using an intersectional lens and analysis, our work will uplift the voices of all survivors, especially those who are from historically marginalized groups. The organization will continue with its commitment to internal and external equity.
Position Overview:
The BWJP Instructional Designer is positioned to develop the organization’s virtual academy. A host of curricula with interactive modules need to be developed in collaboration with content experts in the organization. This position is critical to supporting the organization’s growth in the area of transferring many in person trainings and conference events to the virtual world. The instructional designer will also assist in developing outcomes measures, training evaluation and certification processes.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Design online training courses in close collaboration with content experts and consultants.
Transfer complicated legal and advocacy materials into understandable chunks for different levels of practitioners.
Upload, create and manage all course materials.
Respond to needs of users.
Manage complex multimedia projects.
Conduct ongoing needs assessment to determine appropriate learning outcomes/objects and scope of training.
Ensure 508 compliance of all learning modalities.
Utilize adult learning theory and methodology to manage all training delivery.
Communicate and interact effectively with all Subject matter experts, workgroups and other stakeholders.
Experience converting synchronous training to asynchronous formats.
Ensure Learning Management System is coordinated with other social media platforms.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience with authoring tools such as Articulate 360 suite (Storyline 360, Rise, etc.)
Experience using LMS (Learning Management Systems) to upload, create, and manage course materials
MS Office
Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrate, Audition Premier Pro)
TechSmith Camtasia
Experience using and supporting a wide variety of animation and multimedia development tools such as Vyond (previously GoAnimate) or PowToon
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Educational requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education (specific coursework in Adult Education), or related field
Salary:
$80,000-90,000 per year based on experience, plus (100%) individual health insurance (75% family), dental insurance, pension, disability and life insurance, vacation, sick, and holiday pay.
