This memo contains excerpts from social science literature discusses some common ways survivors cope with and implement strategies to mitigate the harms of intimate partner violence (IPV). This literature can help those who work with survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) to better understand the myriad ways survivors resist victimization to try to keep safe, which ultimately may or may not be successful.
