Federal and state laws prohibit domestic abusers from owning and possessing firearms but many jurisdictions struggle to effectively develop, implement, and enforce the prohibition. To that end, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Firearms has developed a series of recommendations to serve as a roadmap for jurisdictions to implement an effective firearm relinquishment protocol. In this webinar, participants:

  1. Learn about state and federal laws that pertain to domestic violence-related firearm prohibitions
  2. Identify challenges as well as opportunities for success in responding to domestic violence-related gun violence; and
  3. Explore recommendations for implementing effective relinquishment protocols consistent with state and federal law
