Nonfatal Intimate Partner Violence: The Special Role of Firearms

Firearms are the most common weapon used to kill an intimate partner in the U.S.. Less acknowledged is the role that guns play in intimate partner violence (IPV) that doesn’t result in death. In this 60-minute webinar two researchers who have worked with individuals, community groups, and government agencies will review key points about what is known about how guns are used in nonfatal IPV. The presentation will include research findings, discuss the use of firearms to threaten intimate partners, and address prevention. Substantial time will be set aside for Q&A.
