Safety Envelope: NCPOFFC
The National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith & Credit (NCPOFFC), a project of the Battered Women’s Justice Project (BWJP), was created to promote and facilitate inter-jurisdictional enforcement of civil and criminal protection orders, in state, tribal, and territorial courts, pursuant to the Full Faith and Credit provision of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). NCPOFFC has created safety envelopes that are available for distribution and use.
The envelopes are intended to assist in facilitating enforcement of protection orders by having the advocate or petitioner fill out each section of the envelope and enclosing a copy of the order inside. In the event the actual protection order is separated from the envelope, the information filled out on the envelope provides enough information for law enforcement to verify the existence of the protection order through the clerk’s office, the National Criminal Information Center Protection Order File (NCIC POF) or the local state registry (if registered).
This project was supported by Grant No. 2006-WT-AX-K047 awarded by the Office on Violence Against Women, Office of Justice Programs, and U.S. Department of Justice.
