Interstate Child Custody Tool Series

 The Interstate Child Custody Tool Series provides an overview of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA), the Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act (PKPA), 28 U.S.C. §1738A, and the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), 25 U.S.C §1901.

It also provides frequently asked questions about the governing laws involving interstate custody. The toolkit also provides a child custody flow chart that assists practitioners in determining which court has initial jurisdiction to determine child custody using the following jurisdictional statutes: the Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act, 28 U.S.C. §1738A, and the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdictional Enforcement Act.
