Preparing for the Holidays: Helpful Tips and Resources

by Sharonna Lee, Esther Aparicio, and Diana Griffin

As the holiday season fast approaches, many families look forward to moments of connection with family and friends. Yet, we also understand that this time of year can bring added stress, especially when trying to balance expenses and meet our household needs. And holiday expenses can increase quickly.

To help ease the challenges that can come with the season, community programs offer holiday assistance for families experiencing financial strain. If you are seeking support, it’s best to apply early to these programs and consider applying to more than one, as some operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that some holiday assistance programs have eligibility requirements, such as income or age limits. If confidentiality or safety issues are a concern, take time to consider what information you share before applying.
