U.S. v. Rahimi One Year Later: A Virtual Townhall Discussion

On June 21, 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court decided the case of U.S. v. Rahimi, upholding a 30-year old law that protects victims of domestic violence by prohibiting abusive partners subject to a protection order from accessing a firearm. One year later, marking Gun Violence Awareness Month 2025, experts from the Battered Women’s Justice Project, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and Brady: United Against Gun Violence held a virtual discussion about what this law means for reducing intimate partner homicide and promoting public safety and the impact of the Rahimi decision in its first year. Two survivors of intimate partner gun violence courageously shared their experiences.
